The Magpies returned to full group training this week however, and they will have enjoyed a mammoth 16 days between fixtures by the time they kick off against West Brom on Saturday.

Baggies continue to toil

Coincidentally, West Brom’s last Premier League test was also against Roy Hodgson’s Eagles, though unfortunately for Albion, their experience against Palace was very different to Newcastle’s.

WBA were annihilated 5-1 by a rampant Crystal Palace team at the Hawthorns after the Eagles capitalised on Matheus Pereira’s early sending off to run up a meaty final score in the Midlands.

The loss – which was West Brom’s eighth in 11 games since their promotion – kept the Baggies firmly in the bottom three, and we expect Albion to find the going tough again this weekend.

Newcastle worth backing
